Rock Cut Manufacturing Facility

Woodward, Inc.

Early involvement with Woodward’s project team created an opportunity for a strong relationship between Woodward and Arc Design. After the first several months of planning and clear goal setting by the owner, Woodward’s project managers trusted Arc’s management team to handle many of the design and permitting details. The complexities of building a new product line manufacturing facility are many. The strong relationship between the owner and the civil consultant allowed the owner to focus more attention on the manufacturing process and its development rather than on the site work related to the new plant construction. This element of the project exceeded the owners’ expectation and led to quicker response time in the design and construction schedules for this fast tracked project.

One example of this project management efficiency had to do with the resolution of a change in the fire protection supply characteristics from the initial design parameters. With a clear understanding of the updated fire protection demands, Arc Design was able to negotiate and design solutions directly with the local municipality to meet Woodward’s needs.

Design work began in late fall 2012 on the 70 acre campus which included a 450,000 square foot state of the art manufacturing facility and parking for up to 1,000 employees. Advance construction began in Spring 2013 with the official groundbreaking ceremony on May 15, 2013.

A local television station reported “It's one of the Stateline's most positive pieces of economic news in at least half a century”. Construction took over two years to complete, with the bulk of the site work completed between summer 2013 and fall 2014. The project was substantially completed on April 30, 2015 with the official ribbon cutting ceremony held on July 1, 2015. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Tom Gendron, CEO, stated "We've been part of the community since 1870, and we'll be here for years to come". Arc Design helps provide lasting engineering solutions.
