Qualified applicants will have a bachelor of science degree from an accredited program. Academic course work in Traffic and Transportation or Hydrology and Hydraulics are preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD is required with knowledge of engineering software such as Civil 3D, HCS, Passer, HEC/RAS, and HydroCAD. Field experience in surveying and construction of civil engineering projects will be helpful.
The civil engineer will be responsible for the design and preparation of engineering drawings, engineering reports, site planning, exhibit preparation, grading design, roadway profiles and design, earthwork and storm water calculations, and utility design. Responsibilities will also include permit assistance, quantity take-off, and occasional field work including survey assistance and construction observation.
Applicants must have expertise in directing and performing all aspects of acquiring, processing, analyzing, and compiling data to prepare plats, maps, documents, and deliverables for boundary surveys, right of way surveys, topographic surveys, subdivision, ALTA/ACSM surveys, and control and design surveys and be able to perform outside field surveys. Must have a strong working knowledge of surveying equipment, robotic total stations, GPS and computer-based design applications such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
The PLS will be responsible for Business Development in the form of client contact, report writing, proposals, and the RFP/RFQ process. Responsibilities also include quality control, oversight and review of field work and office survey work to ensure quality, timeliness and cost effectiveness of survey projects. Scheduling and coordination of work assignments for field and office personnel.
